Once upon a time, back in the 2000’s, a climbing revolution occurred in Ermionida, East Peloponnese. The British climber, Jim Titt, and the German Inge Zaczek went and equipped more than 200 routes on the area’s excellent limestone rocks, with stainless steel bolts.

They spent a lot of their time, money and effort for the development of sport climbing in the area and we are thankful for it.

Upon that, other legendary climbers such as Hans Weninger, visited the area and equipped several routes

In 2021, the local climbing community, with the aid and support of the Municipality of Ermionida and Tripolis Mountaineering Club, carried out maintenance works on the various crags and replaced several anchors, with new high quality and certified material.

 In 2022, the climbing community furthered their efforts by developing a new crag, Petrogerakas, located near Katafyki Gorge. Additionally, they bolted three new sectors in Castle Thermisia, including Orias’ Wall, Leon’s Wall, and Byzantine Wall, and established several more routes in the crags of Ermionida. Furthermore, in the same year, a new crag, “Pleiades” was developed with focus on MultiPitch routes.

Some ground rules for the harmonic co-existence of climbers, local community and the natural inhabitants (flora and fauna) of our climbing crags:

• Park your car at the designated spots.
• When top-roping, you’re strongly encouraged to place carabiners on the anchor, to minimize anchor wear.
• Respect the route-setters’ intentions and do not alter the routes or the natural rock formation in any way.
• Always collect your waste and throw it in the nearest bin.
• Do not play loud music. Keep your presence discreet and respect the other climbers’ space and efforts

Route setters are welcome and encouraged to address the local climbing community and municipality for an understanding of their plans and intentions. To that end, please contact us, through the contact form.

Bolt quality. Please use certified stainless steel bolts and achors.

Choose your preferred distance between your bolts depending on the character and level of the route, keeping up with basic safety rules, in the spirit of sport climbing.

Try and clean your route to the best of your ability, without severely disturbing the natural environment. Should this process generate debris, remove it from the crag area.

Try and not set new routes too close to the existing ones.

Choose meaningful new lines and don’t just set new routes for the sake of it.
